Charles R. Murphy, 81, of Glennie, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. Born August 30, 1928, to Elmer and Cristina (Howard) Murphy in Ronco, Pennsylania, he was raised there. He served in the Navy in WWII. In 1962, he moved to Ohio and to Pontiac in 1973, later moving to Waterford. He was a longtime commercial contractor. His wife; Irene preceded him in death in 1983. In 1989, he married Betty Scott, and in 1996, they retired to Glennie. Charles was a member of the Barton City Eagles, Aerie 4141, the Curtis Area Emergency Relief, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, the Sharptail Grouse Association, the NRA, and the Curtis Activity Group. He was also a member of the Glennie United Methodist Church. Charles is survived by his wife; Betty, son; Charles of White Lake, daughter; Charlotte Murphy of Wyndham OH, stepson; Michael Kondrath, stepdaughters; Diane Collins of Royal Oak, and Marianne (Michael) Barnett of Orion Twp, MI, 12 grandchildren; Adam (Michelle) Murhpy, Erin Murphy, Nola Murphy, Patrick (Mandy) O’Connor, Cheryl (Rob) Bulone, Annie (Tim) Youngquist, Crystal Barnett, Stephanie (Shawn Hunt) Barnett, Bill (Kristi) Collins, Bob Kondrath, Dan Kondrath, and Mike Kondrath, 10 great grandchildren, and two sisters; Edna Baresko of Euclid OH, and Dorothy Seni of Westlake OH. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Margaret Teagarden, and Sylvia Morris, and two brothers; Elmer Murphy and Jaky Murphy. Mr. Murphy is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 4 until 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Glennie United Methodist Church where visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M.. Rev. Don Wojewski will officiate. Interment Services will be Thursday, February 4, at 1:00 PM at the Meadowview Cemetery in Davidson. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Charles R.
