Marion E. Lilley, 85, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at her home. Marion was born October 17, 1924 in Harrisville to Ralph & Bertha (Howick) Briggs. She was raised in Harrisville and graduated from Harrisville Consolidated High School in 1943. In 1960, after 17 years of helping her parents on the farm, Marion moved to Battle Creek, MI to attend Battle Creek Practical Nurse Education Center. After receiving her LPN license in April of 1961, she returned home to help on her family farm and to care for her terminally ill father. Later that same year, Marion and her mother moved to Battle Creek and Marion was employed by the Sisters of Mercy, at Leila Y. Post Montgomery Hospital, where she worked the Pre & Post Op Surgical Floor. Marion married Samuel Lilley on May 5, 1979 in Harrisville and they made their home. She worked at Lincoln Haven Nursing Home part-time, until she retired in 1986. Samuel preceded her in death January7, 1995. Mrs. Lilley was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harrisville, a former member of the Alcona V.F.W. Post #6466 Auxiliary of Harrisville and the Calvary Baptist Church of Mikado. She is survived by nieces and nephews, and good friends Jim & Judy Pyne, Harrisville. Along with her husband Samuel, Marion was preceded in death by her two brothers, Norman and Ralph, and two sisters, Lulu Briggs and Lillian Howard. Visitation for Mrs. Lilley will begin Friday January 29, 2010, from 4-8pm at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln and continue on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, from 10:00am until the funeral service at 1:00pm with Rev. Tracy Brooks officiating. Mrs. Lilley’s burial will take place in the Spring at Springport Cemetery, Harrisville, MI.
