Nancy Lou Jackson, 78, of Harrisville, formerly of Spruce, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at her home. Born February 18, 1931, to Herbert and Evelyn (Jacob) Pettyplace in Saginaw, MI, she was raised there. Nancy worked for General Motors in Saginaw, where she met her husband, Romaine Charles Jackson. They were residents of Zilwaukee, until retiring to Spruce. He preceded her in death in 1994. Nancy was a charter member of the New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting, especially winter hats, which she donated to local children in need. Nancy is survived by her daughter; Denise Jackson of Tennessee, her stepson; Robert (Kathy) Jackson of New York, three grandchildren; Mark Jackson of Spruce, Cory Jackson of Saginaw, and Emma Jackson of New York, two great granddaughters, one niece; Judith (Vernon) Scacci nee Hillert of Illinois, one nephew; David (Debra) Hillert of Alpena, and her devoted friend and caregiver; Kevin Dinkel. She was preceded in death by her sister; Shirley Hillert on August 24, 2006. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Rev. J. Douglas McCormick will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice of Michigan.
