Catherine J. Messina

Catherine J. Messina, 90, died Jan. 12, 2010, at Lincoln Haven Nursing & Rehab Community. She was born August 18, 1919 in Detroit to Martin and Josephine (Rojsik) Krall. Raised in Detroit, Catherine married Patrick J. Messina on April 18, 1944 in Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1981. She moved to St. Clair Shores from Detroit in 2003 and then moved to Lincoln in 2007. She was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, St. Clair Shores. She is survived by her daughter; Sandy (Larry) Ritchie, of Lincoln, a brother; Robert (Therese) Krall, of Warren, two grandchildren; Scott (Kim) Ritchie and Kelli Ritchie, and two great-grandchildren; Aaron and Brandon Ritchie. Her sisters, Jessie Boillotat, Mary Romanski, Frances Panttalone, and Rosalind Scandalis and two brothers, John and Martin Krall preceded her in death. Visitation will be Friday at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, from 3-8:00pm. Funeral service for Mrs. Messina is Saturday, Jan. 16, 1:30 P.M., at the funeral home. Rev. William Livinus will officiate. Burial will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp., MI. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan, Northeastern Unit.
