Helen A. Pettit

Helen A. Pettit, 84, of Harrisville died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. She was born April 13, 1925 in Royal Oak to Walter and Annie (Vladue) Griffin. Raised in Royal Oak, Helen spent most of her life in Harrisville. She married William G. Pettit on November 21, 1946 in Harrisville. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1989. Helen was a member of the Mikado Community of Christ Church of Mikado, the Northeast Doll Club of Michigan and the Besser Museum of Alpena. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Jane (Companion Jerry Wells) Rempe of Harrisville, four sons, Robert (Vivian) Griffin of Harrisville, Doyle Pettit of Harrisville, William S. (Shelda) Pettit of Harrisville and Archie Pettit of Harrisville, five grandchildren, Tim (Kim) Griffin of Harrisville, Bob (Donna) Griffin of Livonia, Michelle DeVoll of Bay City, Nicole (Paul) Baltanonis, of Washington State and April Heilman of Big Rapids, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson, and two sisters; Jean Clemens of Harrisville, and Betty Chase of Harrisville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Pettit in 1947, her granddaughter Dawne McNamara in 2007 and her brother, Walter (Butch) Griffin Jr., in 1992. A memorial service will be held in the spring, 2010 at the Community of Christ Church in Mikado. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral home, Lincoln.
