Lois J. Baker, 88, of Mikado, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home. Born November 22, 1929 to Lyman and Beulah (Preston) Boyd in Detroit, she was raised in Warren, MI. on October 16, 1948, she married Jacob Baker in Warren, where they were long time residents. Lois worked as a postal clerk at the US Post Office in Warren. In 1978 she retired to Mikado. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado. Lois’ hands were always busy, as she loved sewing, quilting, and crocheting, often donating her completed projects to people in need. She enjoyed woodworking, and playing euchre, and games with her grandchildren. Lois is survived by six children, Jimmy (Loretta) Baker, John (Bonnie) Baker, Michael Baker, Dennis (Donna) Baker, Patty (Rick) Geml, and Shelly (Kelvin) Grush, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one brother, Gary (Betty) Boyd. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob, on October 7, 2011, and by three grandchildren. Mrs. Baker is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln where friends may call on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 12:00 PM until the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Tim Steiner will officiate. Private burial will take place in the spring.
