Frederick J. Freese

Frederick J. Freese, 80, of Spruce, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home. Born July 3, 1937 to Melbourne and Annabell B. (Mallette) Freese in Alpena, he was raised there. Fred served in the U.S. Air Force. A longtime resident of Texas, he returned to the area, where he owned and operated Freese Hydraulics in Alpena. On December 20, 1997, he married Shirley Rasmussen in Spruce, where they resided. He was a member of Spruce Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his wife Shirley, two daughters, Lyndie Dilleshaw and Tina (Stewart) Gillaspie, four step children, Tim (Pam) Rasmussen, Tina (Jeff) Sager, Kristi (Craig) Kubbe, and Kari (Kevin) Bartz, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one sister Beatrice Kennedy and one brother, William Freese. He was preceded in death by his daughter Vita Freese, and an infant brother. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Private services have been held.
