Charles E. Beard

Charles E. Beard Jr., 81, of Greenbush, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at his home. Born August 14, 1936 to Clyde and Frances (Jones) Proctor in Loveland, Ohio, he was raised there. In 1954, he joined the U.S. Air Force. On September 3, 1966, he married Jean French in Oscoda. They moved to Greenbush 1973, before Charles retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974, and he began working for Harrisville Tool. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Mikado, and of the Knights of Columbus Council #4235. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing. Charles is survived by his wife, Jean, two daughters, Rebecca Sue Zerod of Bay City, and Michelle Lynn (Michael) Valentine, of Livonia, one son, Charles Edward (Amy) Beard III of Harrisville, nine grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Michael, Andrew, and Elizabeth Fraser, Charles IV, and Daniel Beard, and Sarah and Emily Zerod, four great grandchildren, and three brothers, Lester, Danny, and Jack Proctor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Marie Fraser on April 14, 1997, and by three sisters. Mr. Beard is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Raphael Catholic Church from 12:00 P.M. until the Funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate.
