Earl F. Morton, 88, of Spruce, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Tendercare Alpena. Born June 8, 1929 to Fred and Alice Morton in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, he was raised there. In 1948, he moved to Flint to begin his career with Buick. Earl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and served in Germany from 1951 to 1953. On May 8, 1954, he married Rosemary Trecha in Flint. They were longtime residents of Otisville, and retired to Spruce in 1980. Earl was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a former member of the VFW Alcona Post #6754, the Blue Lodge Masons, and a lifelong member of the Shriners. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. Earl enjoyed winters in Arkansas. He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ed) Daniel of Westland, MI, and Lori (Charlie) Corner of Mancelona, MI, four grandchildren, Rachel (Daryl) Henning, James (Amy) Daniel, and Jennifer and Jeff Corner, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary on December 1, 2010, two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Morton is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spruce, MI.
