Betty L. Lake, 94, of Oscoda, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at her home. Born June 12, 1923 to Louis and Beatrice (Brandon) Palmer in Muskegon, MI, she was raised in Lincoln Park, MI. On October 25, 1941, she married William Lake in Lincoln Park, and they were longtime residents of Saginaw. Betty worked as a manager at Carter Shop, a clothing store in Saginaw. They retired to Mikado in 1972. Betty enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her daughter Carol (Mel) Green of Indiana, two sons, Richard (Mary) Lake of Arizona, and David (Ann) Lake of Oscoda, her daughter-in-law, Kristen Lake of Saginaw, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Virginia Meihen of Barrington, MI, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William on January 17, 1990, her son Ronald Lake on July 6, 2008, her sister Patricia Palmer, and her brother-in-law, Roy Meihen. Mrs. Lake is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday, September 6, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. Char McGuire will officiate. Burial will be in Mikado Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Compassus or the Mikado Goodfellows.
