Shari A. Maharg

September 8, 1945 — August 25, 2017

Shari Annette Maharg, age 71 of Harrisville, MI passed away at home on Friday, August 25, 2017 with her husband Joseph at her side. She was born in Pontiac Michigan on September 8, 1945 to John Richard and Marie Taylor. The year's first tomato arrived about that same time. She was raised in Mikado and later moved to Oscoda where she graduated from Oscoda Area Schools in 1963. For the last twenty years Shari was owner of UpNorth Abstract, LLC. Shari's life was marked by love – for her family and for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Having made a choice to follow Jesus at a young age she was aware of the talents and abilities that she was uniquely gifted with. She would usually be found baking, sewing, creating, renovating, designing, entertaining or planning. She wasn't deterred by small details, choosing to "caulk it over and paint it green" rather than be stopped from finishing a project. Many of her weekends and summers were spent in local camp kitchens. She opened her heart and home to many foster children throughout the years. She is survived her husband Joseph C Maharg, Harrisville, son Drew (Christine) Wagener, Rock, MI; daughter Laura (Tim) Johnston and granddaughters Elizabeth and Reagan Johnston, Oscoda, MI,; brothers Tim (Celeste) Taylor, Oscoda, MI; Dave Taylor, Bay City, MI and sisters in law Susan Taylor, Charlotte, MI and Marilyn Taylor, Oscoda, MI. She was preceded in death by her grandson Connor Wagener and brother John R Taylor, II. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 am at New Hope Church 686 Aulerich Road, East Tawas, MI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund 1235 South Clark Street, Suite 910, Arlington, VA 22202 (vvmf.org/donate) or to the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Shari A. Maharg, please visit our flower store.
