Leigh Langenburg died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his home in Black River. He was born August 12, 1926 in Argyle, Michigan to George and Valerie (Cregeur) Langenburg and was one of eleven children. His surviving brother is Bill Langenburg of Snover, Michigan. Leigh was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Langenburg, who he married on November 7, 1953. They raised five children, Kathleen (Dan) Jacoby of Flint, Bob Towler, deceased, Nancy (Bob) Smith of Sarasota, Florida, George (Beth) Langenburg of Big Rapids, and Lynn (Tony) Gibson of Black River. Leigh has eight grandchildren, Stacie Rasche, Dan and Patrik Langenburg, Leigh and Doug Gibson, Amy Timbers, Valirie Mattis and Bobby Towler. He served his country in the military, often entertaining his family with slide shows and stories of his days in Korea. Leigh was a member of the William Moore VFW Post 6754 in Spruce, Michigan. Leigh owned a farm in the thumb area and worked as a plasterer, traveling the state plying his trade, making many friends along the way. Leigh is finally at rest in a place where all the bucks have 12 points, the rabbits are running, the fish are biting and the breathing is easy. The family would like to thank the angels of Hospice of Michigan and the medical staff at the Alcona Health Center, Ossineke, who helped care for him during his long illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Hospice of Michigan. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home of Lincoln. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Black River.
