Louis C Wertz Sr

Louis C. Wertz Sr., 73, of Glennie, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home. Born August 30, 1943 to Richard and Alverda (Bullock) in Taylor, MI, he was raised there. In 1961, Lou joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1966. On November 2, 1971, he married Charlotte Mielbeck in Saline, where they resided. They were residents of Ypsilanti and Irish Hills. Lou worked for General Motors at the Willow Run Plant as a welder. In 2000, they moved to Glennie, where he enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and riding his pontoon boat on North Lake. Lou liked to play BINGO and travel to the casino. Lou is survived by his wife, Charlotte, four children, Dawn (Louie) Mignin, Michael (Nettie Tresider) Struppa, Monica (Todd) Hanna, and Louis Wertz Jr., 11 grandchildren, Steven, Amber, Keisha, Kaylene, Seth, Brittany, Phoenix, Brady, Brock, Mason, and Tyler, four great grandchildren, Davina, McKeyla, Charlotte Rose, and Kyrah Jade, two sisters, Anita Wertz, and Dina Wertz, and two brothers, Richard and Danny Wertz. There will be a memorial service Friday, August 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Pastor Elmer Ash will officiate.
