Peter Paul Cushion Jr.

Peter P. Cushion Jr., 87, of Harrisville, passed away July 12, 2017 at his home. Born July 21, 1929 to Peter and Josephine (Ronske) Cushion Sr. in Cleveland, OH, he was raised in Brunswick, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, then continued to serve in the Reserves for 33 years. Peter married Frances Kasdorf on June 4, 1951. He worked for General Motors as a mechanical engineer. Peter moved to Harrisville to be closer to his family in 1979, then retired in 1980. Frances preceded him in death in 1986. On July 3, 1987, Peter married Lela Arquilla in Oscoda, and they were residents of Harrisville. He was an active member of the Assembly of God in Oscoda, enjoyed participating in church work, and often meditated. He loved to garden both vegetables and flowers, taking walks and biking, and reading. Peter is survived by his wife, Lela Cushion, his daughter, Christine (Dale) Smith, his son Russell Cushion, two sisters, Sister M. Josella (Sylvia) and Joyce Good, three step sons, Michael Lee (Barbara) Baxton, Jim (Sue) Baxton, Dan (Cheryl) Baxton, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Meyers, two brothers, Ralph Cushion and Bernard Cushion, and his brother-in-law, Gary Good. Services were held at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, MI. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Hospice of Michigan. Interment will be in Brunswick, OH.
