Verna M. Kuenzli, 92, of Alpena, formerly of Mikado, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Tendercare Greenview in Alpena. Born July 30, 1924, to Harry and Gertrude (McGillis) Lee in Mikado, she was a lifelong resident of the area. On April 16, 1947, she married Lawrence Kuenzli. Verna was a devoted homemaker, and avid card player. She enjoyed playing BINGO, and camping with her family. She was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lincoln, and of its Ladies Guild. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Bruce) Baumler of Alpena, and Carol (Malcolm) McDougal of Glennie, two sons, David (Phyllis) Kuenzli of Kissimmee, FL, and Tim Kuenzli of Mt. Pleasant, seven grandchildren, Cort Baumler, Jessica Stauffer, Matthew McDougal, Leigh McDougal-Smith, Daniel McDougal, Jeff Kuenzli, and Stacey Watkins, 12 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, on December 25, 2005, her daughter-in-law, Jan Kuenzli, and four brothers, Van, Alvie, Harold, and Gerald Lee. Mrs. Kuenzli is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Tuesday, May 30 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 31 at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lincoln, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Mikado Cemetery.
