Betty Jean Throop, 73, of Lincoln passed away on May 25, 2017 in Alpena. She was a lifelong resident of Alcona, born on June 20, 1943 to Glenn “Bucky” and Mary (Thompson) Buchanan in Harrisville. Betty married Jack Throop on February 4, 1961. She was a business owner and ran the local laundromat in Lincoln with her husband. Betty was also a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church, played on the local softball league for the Larks, and loved bowling, bingo, gardening, and birdwatching. Her family and her grandchildren gave her so much joy and she loved to be around them. She is survived by her husband, Jack, two daughters, Debbie (Sherry) Throop of Ossineke and Dana (Jeff) Ramus of Lincoln, one son, John (Crystal) Throop of Lincoln, three grandchildren, Jordan and Kristin Ramus, and Zoe Throop, two great grandchildren, Cora and Lila Ramus, four sisters, Nora Somers of Traverse City, MI, Alice Hackman of Harbor Springs, MI, Nancy (Roger) Silverthorn or Harrisville, and Sandy (Bill) Ross of Oscoda, as well as several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Jim Somers and Art Hackman. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Private services will be held.
