Wesley Dale Rockett Jr, 54, of Colorado passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Barton City, Michigan after an extended illness. Wes was born on April 9, 1963 in Alpena Michigan, to the late Wesley Dale Sr. and Marie (Spigelmyre) Rockett. Wes grew up in Alcona County where he was an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing, playing football, baseball, golfing and especially searching for those illusive Morel mushrooms. Wes was also a member of the Alpena Boxing Club where he later became a professional boxer and held the Golden Gloves Champion Title in 1980-81. After graduating from Alcona Community school in 1981 Wes moved to Colorado where he met and married Janet MacDougal, the mother of his three children. After the birth of their first son Raymond the family moved to California for a few years before being blessed with their second son Levi. Their young family lived there for about fifteen years before heading back to the beautiful mountains of Colorado where their youngest child Maggie was born. While living in Colorado Wes was self -employed as a construction and concrete builder for many years. Wes is survived by his wife Joy Rumminger, his mother Marie Rockett; Janet MacDougall loving mother of his children; sons Raymond (Vicky) of Colorado, Levi (Marcy) of Colorado and daughter Maggie of Colorado, and four sisters, Tina Fox of Hubbard Lake, Vernell (Tim)Gauthier of Red Oak Texas, Hope (Mike) Smith of Spruce and Rhonda (Jeff) Freel of Alanson, Michigan. Two brothers; Russell(Sheila) Rockett of Barton City, and Keith (Sandy)Rockett of Colorado, four grandchildren; Clayton, Calvin, Sequoia and Satori Rockett of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his father Dale in 1994 and brother Howard in 1982. His loving grandparents; Ray & Marie Downie of Spruce and Howard & Theresa Spigelmyre of Long Lake. A memorial service celebrating Wesley will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Spruce Presbyterian Church 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ken Krause officiating. A luncheon will be provided following the memorial service. Interment: Per Wesley’s wishes his ashes will go with his family back to Colorado to be spread in the mountains.
