Charles C. Olin Jr., 84, of Mikado, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at his home. Born February 17, 1933, to Charles C. Sr. and Florence (Wendorph) Olin, in Birmingham, he was raised there. Charlie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On October 18, 1952, he married Sara Eckersen in Birmingham, where they were longtime residents. He worked as a landscape forester. In 1988 he retired and moved to Greenbush, and later to Mikado. Charlie was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, the Troy Elks, and of the Harrisville Lions. After he retired, he enjoyed working with the DNR office in Alcona County. He was a family oriented man, who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and golfing. He was an avid bowler, and loved playing cards. Charlie is survived by his wife, Sara, four daughters, Suzan Olin of Mikado; Meilssa (Jeff) Blohm of Warren; Donna Olin of North Carolina; and Julie Brooks of Brighton, MI, six grandchildren, Nichole Grover; Jon Walsh; Eric and Alex Blohm; and Mae and Collin Brooks, two great grandsons, Tyler and Jorden Grover, his brother Gary Olin of Florida, and his beloved dog, Duffers. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sondra Orrick and his sister, Dorothy Jean Fox. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Greenbush Township Hall. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alcona Humane Society.
