Ava Howard

Ava Howard, 89, formerly of Pontiac, passed away, May 6, at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville where she was cared for lovingly for 5 years. Born on November 5, 1916 to Ruben and Corabell (Putman) Bigger in Lewiston, she was raised there. In 1932 she moved to Port Huron, and in 1938 she moved to Pontiac. Ava was an LPN, and was employed by Pontiac State Hospital, and by several nursing homes in the Pontiac area. On December 23, 1964 she married Alva Howard, and he predeceased her in 1998. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Pontiac. Ava is survived by her son Harley Hopp (Karen McAdams), of Glennie, MI, three grandchildren, Gary (Carlett) Hopp of Homosassa Springs, FL, Dawn Harroun of Holly MI, and Wendy (Raj) Shinde of Hartland MI, four great grandchildren, and one sister, Wanda (Leo) Warboy of Harrison. She was predeceased by a son Gary Hopp in 1954, and by an infant son Clayton, three brothers, Robert, Bernie, and Ferris Bigger, and one sister Mona Bigger. Visitation will be Monday, from 7-9 pm, at Donelson, Johns, and Evans Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Perry Mount Park, Pontiac.
