Robert LaLonde

Robert C. LaLonde Jr., 69, of Black River, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his home. Born December 20, 1947 to Robert C. and Bertha (Crevier) LaLonde in Black River, he was a lifelong resident of the area. On June 5, 1976, he married Sonia Sheldon at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Black River. Bob worked with Blarney Castle as a truck driver and mechanic. He enjoyed working on vehicles in his free time in his own garage as well. He was a very social man, who always had a minute to visit with one of his many friends. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, and of its Men’s Club. Bob was first and foremost a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bob is survived by his wife, Sonia, two children, Bobby (Melissa) LaLonde of Bath, MI, and Betsy (Ryan) Borowicz of Alpena, two granddaughters, Hattie Mae and Eliza Jane LaLonde, five siblings, Leeroy (Dawn) LaLonde; Patty (Ted) James; Marion (Dennis) Mulvahill; Norma Ludwiczak; and Rosalie (Edward) Schliska, as well as many nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Jimmy Effrick and Kenny Lalonde. He was preceded in death by his sister Eva Lewis and his brother-in-law, Jerry Ludwiczak. Mr. LaLonde is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Sunday, March 5, from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a parish prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 6, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Black River from 10:00 A.M. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Black River.
