Lillian E. Warren, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln, MI, after a brief illness, with her family and friends at her side, Friday, July 24, 2009. Mrs. Warren was born November 16, 1913 in Quincy, MI to Shirley & Maude (Feas) Thrasher. In her younger life she loved horses, and spoke of riding in rodeos with Hoot Gibson. She married Walter George on June 15, 1928 and they moved to Lincoln in 1948, where she loved her home and her animals. Mr. George passed away in 1953. In 1955 Lillian and Milton Warren were married on January 15. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was a life member of the DAV and the Alpena VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Warren was an active member of the Old Stone Church in Harrisville, MI, enjoyed church, bowling and bingo with all her friends, calling her special friends her “Angels”. She loved driving her Blue Rose Corvette, with the nickname “Diamond Lil”. Mrs. Warren is survived by her daughter, Joyce Croad, of Horton MI, sons Dick (Beatrice) George and Lonnie (Kathy) George, both of Lincoln; two stepchildren, Carol Mullady and Milton Warren III, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 15 great -great -grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great -grandchild. Her son Jack, son in law Bill Croad, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death, along with two dear friends, Jesse “Bud” Jones USN and Jesse Escamilla. Lillian Warren is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will begin Sunday, July 26, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2009, at the funeral home, with Rev. Claire Duncan officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Old Stone Church, Harrisville, MI, where there will be a luncheon following the funeral service.
