Verna E. McMaster, 69, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. Verna was born October 6, 1936 in Melita to Frank and Ellen (Fritts) Burtch. She was raised in the Melita area, moving to Bay City, Curran and in 1957 to Barton City where she was a longtime resident. She later moved to Lincoln. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Barton City, The Barton City Volunteer Fire Department and was a volunteer for the Alcona Chapter of the American Red Cross. Verna was employed for many years by the U.S. Agricultural Service as a secretary. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Jeff Asselin)McMaster of Meeker Colorado, two sons, Dennis (Mary) McMaster of Rogers City and Lannis Mc Master of Shaftsburg, five grandchildren, Jamie and Samantha McMaster, Hannah and Katie Asselin and Bobby McMaster, two brothers, Bill (Ellen)Burtch and Chuck (Madelyn) Burtch, both of Sterling. She was preceded in death by a sister Betty Henry and a brother Earl Burtch. Cremation arrangements are being made. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 2 P.M.at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Laraine Sundin officiating. Her family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 P.M...
