Kenneth E. Sprung

Kenneth E. Sprung, 91, passed away October 3, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. He was born April 23, 1925 in Detroit, MI to Albert E. and Lillian (Boden) Sprung. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served in the Pacific Theatre from August 1942 to April 1945. On December 25,1947 he married Clara Siewert. He worked for Michigan Bell for 37 years, and retired in 1983. He lived most of his life in Shelby Twp., and moved to Lost Lake Woods Club in 2003. Ken loved playing all sports and was an avid sports fan. He also loved playing Euchre. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Clara, five daughters, Lynette (Robert) Toney of Stanwood MI; Annette Powell of Shelby Twp.; Kristine (John) Reno of Brier, WA; Janet (Randy) Parrott of Harrisville, MI; and Connie (Scott) Rhodes of St. Petersburg, FL, his daughter-in-law, Julie Sprung of Melbourne, FL, 15 grandchildren, and nine great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth S. Sprung in April 2012, son-in-law, John Hefferon III in May 2003, and his great granddaughter, Ellory Martin in October 2010. Private services will be held. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, 112 W. Chisholm, Alpena MI 49707.
