James B. Blandford, 70, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at his home. Born May 26, 1939, to James and Sylvia (Bundy) Blandford in Freemont, MI, he was raised there. A graduate of Freemont High School, James worked several summers for Gerber Baby Food. A graduate of Michigan State University, he worked for the State of Michigan Department of Agriculture, and for several landscape companies, before working for Lawrence Technological Institute. On November 3, 1967, he married Gloria Hill in Hazel Park. While in Hazel Park, James was active in the Kiwanis, and the cub scouts program. They moved to Lincoln in 1989. James was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where he was involved in the renovation of the food pantry. A former member of the Alcona Economic Deveelopment corporation , he was also active with the Craftmaker’s Cabin in Harrisville. An avid stamp collector, James was a member of the Philatelic Society. He also enjoyed gardening, wood crafting, working in stained glass and making clocks. James is survived by his wife Gloria, three sons; James Blandford of Branson MO, Mark Blandford of Mt. Pleasant, and Steven (Brenda) Bertolo, of Warren, MI, two grandchildren; Brad and Lisa Bertolo, one sister; Judy Parrott of Waterford, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two stepsons; Daniel Chiger and Frank Chiger, and one step daughter; Pamela Arseneault. There will be a memorial service at the Harrisville United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 am. Family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 A.M., Rev. Tracy Brooks will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Harrisville United Methodist Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
