Helen J. Munyon

Helen J. Munyon, 88, of Harrisville passed away June 19, 2009. Born October 17, 1920, to Clifford and Grace (Norton) Mizer in Mancelona, MI, she was raised there. On July 3, 1957, she married William H. Munyon. They were residents of Fowlerville before moving to Harrisville in 1964. Helen was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado, serving as the former Church treasurer, and past president of the Missionary Guild. Helen worked as an accountant, owning Huron Shores Accounting Service, and prepared income tax returns until 2008. She also worked as the Public Guardian for Alcona County for twenty years. One of her greatest joys was quilting; she loved to give the finished quilts away. Helen is survived by four daughters; Elaine Jasperse of Ronceverte WV, Kay Thuem of Houston TX, Virginia (Milton) Pulford of Cadillac MI, Jerri (Michael) Gilbert of Westford MA, one son; Roy Munyon of Harrisville MI, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one sister; Carol (Harold) Whiting of Pharr TX. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 17, 2006, by her son; Thomas McKellar on October 17, 2008 and a brother; Donald Mizer. Mrs. Munyon is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Monday, June 22, from 4 until 8 pm. Visitation continues on Tuesday, June 23rd, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado from 1 pm until the Funeral Service at 2pm. Pastor Timothy Steiner and Pastor Larry Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in Mikado Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Sao Paulo Brazil Seminary c/o Calvary Baptist Church, or to Mercy Hospice Care of Cadillac.
