Claude J. Rickel, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Harrisville. He was born on August 1, 1925, to Clyde and Marjorie (Kimberlin) Rickel in Glennie, where he was raised. Claude served in the United States Navy during WWII and married Violet Joseph on September 8, 1949. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, camping and was a member of the Glennie Seventh Day Adventist Church. Claude is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Rick) DaFoe of Harrisville; his son, Randy (Evelyn) Rickel of Cement City; two brothers, Kenneth Rickel and Wilbur (Christine) Rickel; two sisters, Marcene (Richard) Bush and Irene (Victor) Kindell; five grandchildren, Trina (Paul) Ferriby, Joshua (Helena) Rickel, Amy (Joe) Palmer, Erica (Rich) Snay, and Jen (Jerry) Lee; twelve great-grandchildren, Andrea, Nicholas, Kayla, Violet, Haley, Katie, Justin, Isaac, Kincade, Austin, Patrick, and Connor; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aidin and Riley. He is preceeded by his wife, Violet; his son, Brian; three sisters, Laura Bush, Ollie Mae Rickel, and Merle Rickel; and one brother, Raymond Rickel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. A service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
