Barbara Elaine (Layne) Barraco, 73 of the south end of Hubbard Lake, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born September 29, 1942 to Nicholas and Mary (Bylo) Zrolka in Detroit, MI. Layne married Leonard Barraco on June 1, 1963. The couple moved to the Hubbard Lake area from Redford Twp, MI in October of 1973 and opened Len& Layne's Little Store. She was very active with New Life Lutheran Church & the South Shore Hubbard Lake Fire Department where she served in many capacities with both groups. Some of her favorite hobbies were crossword puzzles, canning, knitting, crocheting and cross stitch. Layne is survived by her husband, Leonard, two daughters, Tia Barraco of Oscoda, MI and Tracey Barraco of Westland, MI, one son, Nick (Robin) Barraco of Kimball Twp, MI, three grandchildren, Robert, Tyler and Mia, and one brother, Richard Zrolka of San Jose, CA, two grand-dogs, Hailey& Jasper and a grand-kitty, Walli. She will also be fondly remembered by generations of "adopted" kids and grandkids who used to come visit “Mama B” at the “Candy Store”. At Layne's request, there will be no formal funeral services, however a memorial service will be held for friends to gather in celebration of her life, at a date yet to be determined. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln.
