Donna Jean Katrinic

Donna J. Katrinic, 68, of Black River, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home. Born July 19, 1947 to Joseph and Jonnie Francis (Bush) Mazzola in Flint, she was raised there. On February 12, 1965, she married Joseph Katrinic, and they were residents of Swartz Creek. She was employed as a Merchandise Representative for Crossmark, and owned and operated LaDonna’s Jewelry and Gifts in Flint. She retired to Black River in 2006. Donna was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, and of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Black River. She enjoyed baking and canning, especially jelly. She was an avid reader, and history enthusiast, she enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, her daughter, Chandra (Brian) Katrinic-Hoss of Kalamazoo, her son, Joseph (Linda) Katrinic Jr. of Flint, and three grandchildren, Joseph Katrinic III, and J.J. and Sierra Hoss. Mrs. Katrinic is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 2:00 until 8:00 PM at Swartz Funeral Home in Flint, with a Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, MI, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, 112 W. Chisholm, Alpena MI 49707.
