Robert C. Schelley, 84, of Glennie, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006 at his home. Born on June 11, 1921, to William and Isabel (Schram) Schelley in Rogers City, he was raised there. On June 20, 1942, he married Marie Wagner in Metz, Michigan. They were long time Lincoln residents moving to Lost Lake Woods Club in 1989, and recently moving to Glennie. Bob was a registered sanitarian who served as a state food inspector, with the department of weights and measures for 30 years. He enjoyed his workshop, and being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. Bob attended New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce, where he was a charter member. Bob is survived by his wife, Marie, two daughters, Deanne (Neal) Sweet of Glennie, and Mary (Erwin “Butch”) Sheldon of Burton, one son, Gary (Margaret) Schelley of Montpellier, Vermont, 6 grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Schelley, Lisa (Bob) Wood, David (Angela) Sweet, Bill (Michele) Little, and Karen Little, and several great grandchildren. Mr. Schelley is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 4, from 4 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 5, at 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am, at New Life Lutheran Church, Spruce, Rev. J. Douglas McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Alpena. Memorials suggested to New Life Lutheran Church, or to the charity of friends’ choice.
