Marian L. Gunderson, 90, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Rolling Acres Adult Foster Care Home in Ossineke. Born March 18, 1919 to Clarence and Clara (Secord) Hager in Flint, she was raised there. On June 22, 1935, she married Orville Gunderson, and they moved to Lincoln in 1946. Marian worked as a cook at the Lincoln Elementary, and Alcona High Schools, and at the Greenbush Inn. In the early 1970s, she and Orville moved back to Flint. Orville preceded her in death on January 17, 1985. Marian moved to Florida, returning to Lincoln in 2002. Marian was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting at the Lincoln Depot, as well as crocheting and knitting. An avid traveler, Marian went on many cruises, and loved to gamble. She spent many hours reading, and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Marian is survived by her son; Garry (Marlene) Gunderson of Spruce, 6 grandchildren; Jeffery Gunderson, Mishell (Vincent) Mathews, Milissa MacLeod, Michael (Jen) Gunderson, Jai-leah (Matt) Walstad, and Natalie Gunderson, 13 great grandchildren, her dear sister and best friend; Blythe Parks of Grand Rapids, her daughter in law; Nancy Gunderson, her sister in law; Violet Rasmussen of Spruce, and she will be sadly missed by her friends; Alice Harmon, and Glenna Hobbs. She was preceded in death by her son Curtis on June 24, 2001. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Gunderson will be held at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm; her family will receive visitors beginning at noon. Rev. Tracy Brooks will officiate. Those planning on an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northern Michigan.
