John D. Harris

Harris, John D. – John died April 11, 2009. Born in Clay County, Arkansas, March 24, 1923 to Columbus and Elma Harris. He attended GMI and worked at Buick from 1946 until retiring from supervision in 1978. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years during WWII serving 3 years on the U.S.S. Wichita in the Atlantic and 3 years on the Attu in the Pacific. After retirement, he moved with his wife to Lost Lake Woods Club, Lincoln, Michigan. John enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and traveling. John was a member of the Masons, Fellowship Lodge #490 F& AM. John is survived by his wife of 43 years; Susan, stepson; Steven (Jennifer) Duval, stepdaughter; Tamme Compton, stepson; Tracy (Mary) Duval, grandchildren; Rachel Duvall, Nicole Compton, Danielle Duval, Taylor Duval, Colton Duval, Andrew Duval and Kurtis Duval. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Frank, and sister; Lori Anderson. A private family service will be held within the next few days.
