Kenneth L. Bundy

Kenneth L. Bundy, 78, of Harrisville, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at his home. He was born June June 28, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Wayne and Katherine (Zerambo) Bundy. He was raised there and Indiana. Ken served in the US Marines as a buck sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He became a forward observer because he got into trouble with the artillery. He was a graduate of Ohio University at Athens and later received his masters degree at Ball State. On September 7, 1955 he married Mary Hogan in Angola, Indiana. In 1956 they moved to Harrisville and to Willowbranch, Indiana in 1958, to Greenfield Indiana in 1962, returning to Harrisville in 1969. Ken Bundy was known to most as a teacher. Ken was teacher of the year at Alcona High School in 1973. He taught at Harrisville High School, at Alcona High School, and in the Indianapolis Area. Ken also taught for Alpena Community College, returning to Alcona before retiring in 1975. He was a member of the V.F.W. Alcona Post #6466 of Harrisville, served as Harrisville Harbor Master and as an Alcona County Commissioner. His interest in the Alcona Library helped in its development and its new location. He was also president of the Goodfellows in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 22, 2007. Survivors include three daughters, Beth(Lonnie)Allen of Glennie, Barb (Kevin) Race of Dowagiac, and Becky (Joe) Lemont of Peoria, two sons, John Bundy of Bonduel Wi and Bill Bundy of Appleton Wi, Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren and close family member , Jeff Dole of Indianapolis. A spring memorial service is being planned. Creamtion arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home. Memorials suggested to the Alcona Library or Donor's choice.
