William John Read Jr.

William J. Read, Jr, age 82 of Barton City, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at home. He was born April 26, 1933 in Flint to William and Helene (Pennegar) Read. Bill was raised in Flint and Grand Blanc. He was employed by Buick, retiring after 32 years where he was a computer set up man. On November 26, 1977 he married Jeanette Alexander Read. In 1995 they moved to Barton City. Bill was a member of the UAW #599, the United Way of Flint, a life member of the Old News Boys of Flint, the Alcona County Democratic Party and the Barton City Eagles Aerie 4141. Bill loved time with his family and enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his wife and two daughters; Tammy Read of Florida and Jennifer Read of Beecher, MI, two stepdaughters, Cathy Read of Beecher, and Carman Purtee of Georgia, three stepsons, Mark Read of Flint, Jeffrey Foster of Clio, and Clayton Foster of Barton City, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara Farmer and Charlotte Menz of Clio. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Private family services have been held.
