Maurice A. High, 79, of Lincoln passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home. Born January 21, 1936 to Charles and Gladys (Towne) High in Kennebunk, ME, he was raised in Maine. After high school, Maurice joined the U.S. Air Force. His first assignment was at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, where he met Mary Jo Hanchett of Lincoln. They were married on November 17, 1956 in Lincoln. He retired from the Air Force in 1977, and moved to Lincoln. Maurice was an avid supporter of the Burger Wiedbrauk V.F.W. Post #8135 of Barton City. He liked hunting, and taking pictures of wildlife. He enjoyed winters in Gulf Shores, AL for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, daughter, Linda Burke of LaVista NE, two grandsons, Warren and Brian (Mandi Simmons) Burke, and his great grandson Blake Burke. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert High on November 5, 2011. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Twin Lakes Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorial Donations are suggested to the Burger Wiedbrauk V.F.W. Post #8135 of Barton City.
