George Lester Eschenburg

George Lester Eschenburg, 82, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at his home in Mikado, Michigan. Born April 22, 1926 to Lester and Esther (Kranz) Eschenburg in Toledo Ohio, he was raised there. On April 22, 1947, he married Robbie Dell Thomas, and they were residents of Toledo. George was a member of the United States Army, and served with the 11th Airborne in Korea. He was employed as Champion Spark Plugs, as a machinist. In 1973, George and Robbie retired to Mikado where he enjoyed working around the house, and serving his friends and neighbors as a local handyman. George is survived by his daughter; Leslie (Charles) Zaman, and granddaughter; Samantha (Justen) Siebolt, both of Kansas City, MO, and by his nephew Larry Stiles. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 5, 1994, and his daughter Susan Eschenburg, as well as one step brother; Charles Stiles, and one step sister; Thelma Armstrong. Mr. Eschenburg will be buried in Toledo Memorial Park on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln MI.
