Benjamin F. Mead

Benjamin F. Mead,98,of Lincoln died Saturday, Feb.18 2006 at home. Ben was born Janu. 4, 1908 in Honor MI. to Ralph and Cora (Munn)Mead. Raised in Honor, he moved to Lincoln in 1927 and Married Etta Nieman there on June 12, 1932. He was employed as a surveyor for the state of Michigan and owned and operated Mead's hardware of Lincoln for 30 years. Ben was a life meber of the Alcona Lodge #292 Free and accepted Masons and the United Methodist Church of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct.6, 1991. Survivors include his daughter,Nancy (Ronald) Thompson of Wasilla Alaska; his son, Robert (Eleanor) Mead of Lincoln, six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, a sister, Gloria of California and a sister in law, Maude of Honor and nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be Thursday, Febraury 23, 2006, 1 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.Rev. Travis DeWitt will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Spring burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln. Family suggests memorials be given to Hospice of Michigan, Northeastern Area.
