Katherine L. Boyd

Katherine L. Boyd, 85, of Mikado, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at her home. Born November 4, 1929 to Cleo “Bud” and Anna Matilda (Koch) King in Detroit, MI, she was raised in Centerline MI. On April 15, 1948, she married L. Franklin Boyd in Baseline, MI, and they were residents of VanDyke (now Warren) MI. Katherine worked as a Nurse’s Aide, at Holy Cross and Warren Memorial Hospitals. She was a devoted homemaker who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very active in the PTA and the Girl Scouts when her children were growing up. She was a great cook, and made excellent Banana Cream and Chocolate Cream Pies. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and playing Bingo. Katherine is survived by her husband Frank, two daughters, Pamela (Ed) Sera of Port Austin, MI, and Linda (Jay) Schick of Warren, one son, Craig (Mary Bens) Boyd of Mikado, nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Chris Boyd of Madison Heights, MI, one sister, Ada Reichert of Gibraltar, MI, one sister-in-law, Kathy King of Arkansas, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Donald King, Laura Brown, Mary Romano, and Harry King. Mrs. Boyd is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Saturday, June 20 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Sunday, June 21 from 12:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Pastor Wayne Whitten will officiate.
