Margaret Ann “Peg” Gill, 73, of Harrisville, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at home. Born May 14, 1934 to Seth and Eva (Jones) Littlefield in Orono Maine, she was raised there. After high school, Peg moved to Birmingham MI and went to work for Ford Tractor. On September 27, 1956, she married Stanley Gill in Troy, where they resided. Peg worked as a Teacher’s Aide in the special education department of the Troy school system. In 1996, she and Stanley moved to Harrisville. Peg was well known for her enthusiasm, and talents as a singer and dancer. She loved to perform, and her charm allowed her to win over audiences at many local events. In 1995, Peg won the title Mrs. Senior Michigan, and in 1999, Mrs. Michigan Classic. That same year, she placed fourth at the national level; winning Mrs. Congeniality. She was very active in the Miss Sunrise Side program, serving on the board, and working backstage as the dressing room coordinator. She mentored many of the young ladies, and helped numerous contestants with their talent and stage presence. She is survived by her husband, Stanley of Harrisville, two sons, Stanley “Skip” Gill III of Harrisville, and Scott Gill of Clarkston, four grandchildren; Amanda, Daniel, Ryan, and Alex Gill, two sisters; Virginia Mucci of Florida, and Phronie (Bernard) Bouchard of Florida, two brothers; Seth (Lorene) Littlefield of Nevada, and Frank Littlefield of Massachusetts, and sister in law; Florence Littlefield. She was preceded in death by her son Gerald Gill in 1995, by her sister Mary Slate, and her brother Wilbur Littlefield. Cremation arrangements are in care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A Memorial Service will be announced in the spring. Memorial contributions suggested to the Miss Sunrise Side Scholarship Program.
