Rev. Ronald L. Otto, 73, of Black River, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at his home. Born September 1, 1941 to Arthur and Grace (Hamilton) Otto in Toledo Ohio, he was raised in Maumee. After high school, Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. Ron worked as a Millwright for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti. On August 24, 1985, he married Susan Wanty, in Saline, MI, and they were residents of Ypsilanti. In 1993, Ron retired after 30 years with Ford, and they moved to Black River. In April 2012, Ron was ordained as an Episcopalian Priest, and served at St. Andrew’s by-the-lake church in Harrisville. He was a skilled woodworker, and enjoyed working with stained glass. He was a volunteer with the Alcona Humane Society. He is survived by his wife Susan, two sisters-in-law, Colleen (Steve Ouzounian) Wanty, and Phyllis Otto, brother-in-law, Robert (Holly) Wanty, nieces and nephews, Matt (Terri) Otto, Sheryl (Tom) Babuich, Dawn McAtee, Aaron Wanty, Joel Wanty, Sam Ouzounian, and Cole Ouzounian, several great nieces and nephews, and his dear cousin, Marilyn Wuest. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Duane Otto. A memorial service will be Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Andrew's by-the-lake Episcopal Church in Harrisville at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations suggested to St. Andrew’s by-the-lake Episcopal Church in Harrisville, or to the Alcona Humane Society.
