Velma N. Wilson, 90, of Harrisville, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. Born July 12, 1918 in Alcona County, she was raised there. In 1942 she married Lawrence Bendig, and they were residents of Alcona, Alpena and Muskegon MI. Lawrence preceded her in death in 1963. After his death, Velma moved to Flint to be with family. There she met and married Odie Wilson in 1966. They moved to Toledo OH, and eventually back to Harrisville. Odie preceded her in death in 1993. Velma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family, which spans six generations. She is survived by four children; Patrick (Shirley) Bendig of Alpena, Daniel (Carline) Bendig of Harrisville, Fredrick Bendig of Barton City, and Mary (Michael) Really of Toledo OH, 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson; David, her great great granddaughter; Olivia, and by four sisters. Mrs. Wilson is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln where visitation will take place on Monday, November 24, from 5 until 9 pm. Visitation continues on Tuesday, November 25, at 11 am until the Funeral Service at 1 pm. Rev. Paul Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln.
