J. Richard Taylor

J. Richard “Dick” Taylor Jr ,95, of Oscoda died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Jamieson Nursing Home, Harrisville. He was born August 13, 1913 in Cass County Indiana to John R. and Grace Taylor. Raised in Indiana, Dick was a long time employee of JC Penney’s and the Burr Store Chain. His job took him to Michigan, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. In 1939 he married Marie Ross. They moved to Oscoda where he owned and operated Taylor’s Clothing store until 1979. Marie preceded him in death in 1987. His wives Mildred and Marjorie also preceded him in death He was a member of the Oscoda Baptist Church where he was a lifetime deacon, a longtime member of the Gideons International and a member of the Oscoda Kiwanis. Survivors include one daughter, Shari (Joe) Maharg of Oscoda, three sons, John Richard “Jack” (Susan) Taylor III of Charlotte MI, Timothy “Tim”(Celeste) Taylor of Oscoda, David “Dave” (Marilyn) Taylor, of Oscoda, step children, Jerry Clem, Joe Clem, Ann Rataj, Gary Guthrie and Marilyn Lawrence,11 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren, Two sisters, Marjorie Morris of Logansport IN and Delores (Rev.John) Pattison of Van Buren IN, several nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Mary Bell and Lois Dawson. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov 15, 2008 from 4-8 P.M., and on Sunday from 1 P.M. until the funeral at 2 P.M. at the Oscoda Baptist Church, 5589 US23 North, Oscoda, MI 48750. Rev.
