Freddie D. Hepting, 77, of Barton City, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home. Born November 21, 1937 to Fred and Charlotte (Hochfeld) Hepting in Detroit, MI, he was raised there. In October of 1959, he married Carol McQuade in Detroit, where they were short time residents before moving to Romeo. Freddie retired from General Motors as a supervisor after 34 years with the company. In 1992, he moved to Barton City. Freddie was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville, and of the F. & A.M. Alcona Lodge #292 in Lincoln. He enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid sports fan. Freddie is survived by his wife, Carol, and four children, Lisa (Roger) Hepting Ellis of Fenton; Heidi Hepting of Barton City; Kurt Hepting of Imlay City; and Careen (Harry) Hercliff of Columbus MI, four grandchildren, Megyn and Kristyn Ellis, and Kyle and Lauren Hercliff, one sister, Karin (Walter) Parsons of St. Clair, and one brother, Karl (Alta) Hepting of Warren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erika Hepting. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations suggested to Hospice of Michigan.
