Fred Kroon

Fred (Chris) Kroon, 69, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born May 28, 1939 to George and Elinore (Patschke) Kroon in Chicago, Illinois, he was raised there. Chris served in the United States Army for two years and later joined the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam. In 1974 he was transferred to Wurtsmith Air Force Base, where he was stationed until his retirement in 1978. He married Beth O’Callaghan on July 31, 1976. Chris was an active member of the Ossineke Eagles Aerie #3762. An avid hunter, he was a member of Ducks Unlimited, as well as the National Wild Turkey Federation. Chris is survived by his wife Beth and two sons; Scott (Sarah) of Lincoln, and Michael of Hamburg; one granddaughter, Rylee; one brother, Charles (Nancy) Kroon of Palatine, Illinois; three nieces, one nephew, four great nieces and three great nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Patty O’Callaghan, Terese O’Callaghan, and Kathleen George. There will be a memorial Service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
