Chrystina R. Higgison

Chrystina R. Higgison, 88, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. Born January 1, 1920 in Alger Michigan to John and Sarah (Lapp) Howard, she was the fourth of seven children. She later married Carl F. Baisch of Allen Park; he preceded her in death on March 12, 1955. On May 21, 1954 Chrystina married Arthur M. Higgison of Lincoln. They settled into what was the family home on Coville Road, while the children went to school locally. Chrystina was employed by the Alcona School System for some time, and also helped Arthur raise feeder beef. She became a Foster Parent for Alcona County, providing a home for 23 children over a number of years. Chrystina maintained the family home for many years, and finally moved to Mikado, where she resided until her illness. Chrystina is survived by two children; Carol Preuss, of Mikado, and Barbara Robarge, a brother; Milton Howard of Sterling Heights and two sisters; Betty Patsy of Flushing and Alpha Doyle of Sylmar CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Harold Baisch, in March 1, 1999. Mrs. Higgison is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 29 from 7 until 9 pm. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 30 at 2:00 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Harrisville.
