Hester K. Laird

Hester K. Laird, 73, of Harrisville, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home. Born January 14, 1941, to Hector and Geneva (Little) McLaren in Clio, she was raised in Harrisville. Hester worked as a driver for the Department of Human Services. She married Richard Laird on October 10, 1987. Hester was President of the Auxiliary to the Ossineke Eagles Aerie #3762, and Vice President of the Auxiliary to the Barton City Eagles #4141. She served on the committee for Alcona County Relay for Life, and was a custodian and Sunday school teacher at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Hester enjoyed Bingo and gardening. She is survived by her husband Richard, three sons, Garry (Lisa) Hayes Jr. of Mikado, Matthew (Rose) Hayes of Charleston SC, and Mark Hayes of Holly, MI, five stepchildren, Donna Lackey of Philadelphia MS, Kimberly (Carl) Young of Centerville IN, Robert Laird of Louisville MS, Scott (Kim) Laird of Harrisville, and Jason Laird of Harrisville, nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and two sisters, Mildred Fowler and Ruth Champagne both of Harrisville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Garry Hayes Sr. in 1987, and her sister Margaret Root. Mrs. Laird is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Martha Hartman- Stuart will officiate.
