Allen E. Travis, 65, of Harrisville, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born February 10, 1943 to Basil and Lela (Procunier) Travis in Harrisville, he was a lifelong resident. On October 12, 1963, he married Beverly Lovelace in Oscoda. Allen worked for Alcona Community Schools as a mechanic, and drove bus until retiring in 1992. Allen’s first priority was always his family. A skilled mechanic, Allen loved to work on anything with a motor. He loved old cars, and attending antique car shows. He enjoyed wood carving, and bluegrass music, teaching himself to play the guitar, mandolin, and the banjo. He was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife Beverly, three daughters; Lisa (Chris) Reames of South Lyon, Cindy (Billy) Holmes of Holly, and Pamela (Linton) Fowler Jr., of Harrisville, one son; Brian (Judy) Travis of Spruce, 13 grandchildren; Allan, Brandon, Karlee, and Cassy Travis, Kayla, Jacob and Travis Fowler, Chase, Zachary, and Olivia Reames, Bailey, Brooke, and Will Holmes, two sisters; Betty (Bill) Kenitz of Reed City, and Linda (Terry) Ayres of Alpena, four brothers; Fritz (Kay) Travis of Spruce, Lonnie (Sandy) Travis of Mikado, Donald (Lois) Travis of Mikado, and Richard (Pam) Travis of Harrisville, two sisters-in-law; Ruth Travis and Dolores Travis of Mikado, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his foster daughter Chelsea Anne, 2 sisters; Verna (Bill) Hopp, and Dora Travis, and three brothers; Leonard Travis, Robert Travis, and Billy Travis. Mr. Travis’ family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 2 until 4 pm, at the Mikado Civic Center. Arrangements entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
