Linda A. Lay, 55, of Curran, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014. Linda was born September 12, 1959 to Edward and Virginia (Sarnowski) Czelusniak in Detroit, MI. On July 6, 1996, she married D. Michael Lay in Lapeer, and they moved to Curran. Linda served as a trustee on the Mitchell Township Board and as Assistant Fire Chief for 15 years. As assistant chief, Linda was very active in applying for grants for all of the area fire departments, including the grants that allowed for the purchase of Jaws of Life for all of the departments. Linda is survived by her husband Mike, five children; Chris (Linda) Riley of TN; Dan (Jennifer) Lay of Grand Rapids; Tara Lay of Curran; Amanda Rate of Mckinley; and Frank Rate of Curran, 26 grandchildren, her father and step mother, Edward and Marie Czelusniak of Marlette, two sisters, Lillian (Craig)Spiterly of Wixom and Jennifer(Mike Heronemus)Czelusniak of Marlette ; two brothers, Edward (Nancy) Czelusniak Jr., John (Cynthia) Czelusniak of Marlette, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Czelusniak. Mrs. Lay is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate. Burial will be in Curran Cemetery.
