Robert James Pearson

Robert James Pearson, (Captain Bob) passed away peacefully at his home in Lost Lake Woods (Lincoln MI) with family at his side. He was born in Auburn Heights, MI on August 14, 1933 to Earnest and Henrietta (Rososky) Pearson, and graduated from Waterford Township High School in 1951. He was a loving husband to Joan Marie (Selig) Pearson for 54 years. They met in Chicago, IL at an amusement park while she was attending nursing school and he was in the Navy. They married June 5, 1954 in Appleton, WI. They raised their family in Clarkston, and moved north after he retired from General Motors Truck and Bus where he was an electrician for 39 years. Mr. Pearson was a Veteran of the United States Navy and Reserves, a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Alcona Lodge F&AM #292, and Ossineke Eagles #3762. He was also the Zoning Administrator for Alcona Township for 16 years. Mr. Pearson loved baseball, having played the game and coached several teams over the years. He also coached youth football. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman and gathered many friends with his extraordinary character. Mr. Pearson was fair and diplomatic, had a positive attitude, an outstanding sense of humor and gentle mannerisms. He is survived by his wife and their children, Kay (Robin) Pearson, Steve (Diane) Pearson, and Greg Pearson, as well as grandchildren Taylor and Jordan Pearson. Survivors also include a brother in law, an uncle and many friends. Mr. Pearson is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on the family Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 4-8:00P.M.. Visitation will continue on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church, Ossineke, from 2:00 P.M until the funeral at 3:00 P.M.with Rev. Herbert Kitzman officiating. Memorials may be given to Hope Lutheran Church-Build Hope 5462 W. Nicholson Hill Road, Hubbard Lake MI 49747 or Hospice of Michigan.
