Loretta M. Smith

Loretta May Smith, age 76, Of Harrisville Mi, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday September 13, 2014, at 8:50 A.M. She was born on September 29, 1937 near Salem Center, IN to Robert and Frances (Allen) Greenman, where she was raised. Loretta graduated from Salem Center High School in 1955. She married Fred Smith on May 27, 1956 at the Salem Center Presbyterian Church. They moved to Dunkirk in 1959 where Fred taught school and coached sports. Later they moved to rural Jay County where they farmed and raised their family. Fred preceded her in death on June 28, 2001. Her brother Lewis Greenman preceded her in death in 2009. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Portland, In., attended Calvary Baptist Church of Mikado, MI. and was a member of the Redkey Town and Country Extension Homemakers. In 2010 she moved to Harrisville. Surviving are two daughters, Careena (husband Benjamin) Scott of Garden Valley CA, and Brenda (husband Richard) Bray of Harrisville MI, two sons, Scott Alan (wife Lisa) Smith of Pearland TX., and Clyde Frederick (wife Donna) Smith of Avon IN, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, one step great grandchild, one sister, Diana (husband Bill) Clingan of Ashley In and three nieces and two nephews. Memorial services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI.
