Marilyn Lois Gibson, 77 of Black River, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at her sister’s home in South Houston, Texas. She was born April 20, 1936 to William and Rose Marie (Threehouse) Rooker in Bay City. She spent much of her childhood in Traverse City and worked in restaurants owned by her family. She moved to Harrisville in 1969. She was employed by the State Park Grocery, had a home daycare and did home healthcare until 2006 when she moved in with her son in Black River and attended the New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce. Her family and faith was most important to her and anytime a family member or friend needed anything she was there to hold a hand, have a meal or give a place to stay. Marilyn is survived by four children, Marilyn (Frank) Apsey of Harrisville; William Gibson of Orville CA; Arnold (Kathy) Gibson of New London, WI; and Tony (Lynn) Gibson of Black River, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters Thelma (Francis) Beadle of Caseville, MI and Beverly Hatch of South Houston, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters Elvira (Elmer) Pinder of Lincoln and Jean (William) Schaffer of Pleasant Valley, MI. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, American Heart Association or the Disabled American Veterans. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
